Are your lights made from neon glass or LED?
All of the lights that you see on our site are LED neon. These are more durable, longer lasting, and use less energy than tradition glass tube neon. We can however make (glass) neon lights for you through our custom made neon service. Please Contact Us and tell us what you'd like and we'll come back to you with a design and quote. Our prices start from under £100.
What's the difference between neon and LED neon?
Traditional neon is made from glass tube with gas inside, LED is made from flexible light strips. The end results is very similar, however at Lights up your life we prefer LED neon because it has many benefits. Please see our separate explanation of the differences between glass neon and LED here
How much power do they use?
LED neons use low amounts of power, all of our off the shelf LED neons use 5V of power and are powered by a single cable. Most of the smaller LED neons in our kids section are powered by battery.
Do I need an electrician to install them?
No - Most of our LED neons are constructed on reinforced perspex with 2-4 holes in them, so you can hang them straight onto the wall from nails, hooks or glue on hooks. They are lightweight meaning that no drilling is required. Alternatively you can place them on a shelf and lean them against the back wall. You just plug them in and switch them on. Simple!
I want something bespoke/custom made? Can you help?
Absolutely, we love making bespoke designs for you! Head to our Contact Us tab tell us what you're looking for and we'll come back to you with a design, colour options and a number of different fonts to choose from. We usually suggest LED neon for our custom made signs but we can also produce in traditional (glass tube) neon too. Our custom made LED neons start from under £100 (including design costs). Glass tube neon is more expensive.
How long will it take to make a custom made sign?
If it's just words (a name, phrase, quote, saying, song lyric etc) that you're after, we aim to turn a design around in 48 hours. Once you have signed off your design we usually ask you to allow for approx 2 weeks for production and postage, although we have turned things around faster. If you need something super urgent we will do what we can to speed up this process.
Where do you ship to?
We ship to Europe and the United States. For other countries, please contact us.
I live in the UK - will I have to pay any import duties?
If you live in the UK, you may need to pay 20% VAT on your items once they enter customs. Please allow for this in your budgeting.
I live in the EU - will I have to pay any import duties?
If you live in the UK you may need to pay VAT on your items once they enter customs. Please check that VAT rates for your country on deliveries coming from outside of the EU and allow for this in your budgeting.
How long will my delivery take?
If you are buying one of our off the shelf neons, delivery will be approximately 15 business days. In extreme cases delivery may take a bit longer, so please bear with us. If you need something urgently please contact us before placing your order. If you are ordering a bespoke neon sign, please allow up to 15 days from signing off your design.
I need something fast, can you get it to me quickly?
If you need something quicker than 15 days please contact us before placing your order. There may be an additional postage charge for quicker than standard delivery times.
What is your returns policy?
If your light arrives and isn't as described or is faulty, all you need to do is contact us within 30 days and send a picture of your faulty item and we will refund you or send a replacement light out. There is no need to return the item.
If your light arrives (and is as described) but you change your mind and decide that you don't want to keep it, you have 14 days to return the item, but please note that you will need to cover the cost of the postage.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
